Gourmet Dinner Club

Recently I joined a Gourmet Dinner Club with a couple of friends, and am enjoying it immensely! We've only had a couple of gatherings thus far but the food and conversation have been great and left me looking forward to the next soiree. (I think using a word such as soiree fits in this instance... and its fun to sound a bit uppity every now and then). So far we've had a Greek inspired meal - yours truly making a mean mousaka and another meal that had an eclectic approach - I made a lemony gnocchi that was super delicious! (perhaps due to the pecorino cheese liberally sprinkled on top?)

I am a bit nervous about planning my meal - perhaps something with a Latin American feel? I'm interested in trying out a seviche and a sangria but am unsure of where to head next. Also I need to find some top-notch recipes. So I guess I'm soliciting ideas. Anyone out there with some great recipes or ideas feel free to send them my way!

how are you defining gourmet?
i would love to be in your club and try your tasty morsels!
i think if you went with a recipe by rick bayless, it would be tasty! i've never really tried any of his recipes, but they look delicious on his show!
i have always wanted to try my hand at mousaka, but never had the time. it sounds delicious. perhaps i should plant some eggplant in the garden...

Gourmet is loosely defined in the group ... perhaps its best described as "above and beyond" dinner at home or a potluck. To give you an idea at our first dinner the menu included Lemony Zucchini bruschetta (Yum!), Pork Milanese with Arugula Salad and Tipsy Affogato among others. Nothing was terribly hard to make, we all swapped recipes and tips as we ate. However at the next one, the host was talking about a gourmet picnic and I have no idea what will be included there.

Thanks for the tip about rick bayless! I'll look into some of his recipes. And I would recommend the mousaka - if you want the recipe let me know.

rick bayless makes me want to go to chicago to eat mexican. :)

Let's see:
something with a mole sauce?
edamame guacamole for a twist on the usual dip?

oh, this does sound fun.
