Before (so gross!):
The process:
Step #1 - Demolition on Friday evening until about 2 a.m.
Step #2 - Cement board installation on Saturday morning
Step #3 - Installation of ceramic tile the next weekend
Step #4 - Cleaning with saw dust
After (clean enough to walk barefoot on!):
We'll finish up the trim work this summer, but even without it the floor is 100% better than before! Of course, I still had to wash all out the open cupboards and dishes that we neglected to cover during the construction...but I didn't even mind it as I stood on my new floor...barefoot!

Your new floor looks beautiful!! So when can you fly out and retile our kitchen for us? :) It sounds like you are enjoying making your house 'yours!' Oh, and I did make some roman shades, using a cheap venetian blind as the base. Are you making yours from scratch? You can send me an email!
yes, please come East and re-tile the kitchen here, too? looks good. i like the wall colors as well.
